Imagine having someone you can trust and share anything with. For me, it would be my siblings, especially my 14-year-old sister.
My sister is like my best friend. She has always been there for me through every challenge I’ve faced. It’s a gift to have someone like her because I don’t think I would be the person I am right now if it weren't for her, which makes me feel grateful for having a sibling I can trust.
My sister is someone I can trust with all of my secrets. Not everyone has someone they can always be open with, so I’m really lucky to have her. There’s a lot of things that even people I know don’t know about me, but there’s almost nothing that my sister doesn’t know about me.
I remember two years ago when I sprained my ankle and didn’t have the ability to move around a lot, my sister was there to support me by helping me get ready for school, carry around my crutches for me, and just help me get through the days without trouble.
This is just one of many times I felt so lucky to have a sibling like her. She has been there for me through many chapters of my life.
A few years go, when we found out we were moving from Alaska to California, I was pretty upset and didn’t like the idea of leaving everything behind. It was my sister who helped me realize that change is okay. She would tell me that we would meet many amazing people and see beautiful places.
When we finally got here, she tried to be positive about everything and make everything fun just to try to cheer me up, which made moving a whole lot easier.
When I felt like everything in California was too new for me, my sister tried to help me look at the bright side of everything and make me feel like I’m not alone to deal with this change.
I don’t remember a single challenge that I’ve faced without having my sister by my side. She has been there to listen to my problems as well as help me fix them.
No one understands me as much as my sister. It feels like she knows how I’m feeling without me having to tell her. She gets me in so many ways and whenever I’m feeling angry or upset, she would be the first one to ask me, “Are you okay?” Or “What’s up?”
My sister and I have shared many memories, especially since we’re with each other pretty much every single day. Even though she annoys me some of those days, I don’t think I would have gotten through them if she wasn’t there.
That’s why I’m so grateful for having someone like her. I feel like I’ve been able to get through many obstacles thanks to my sister.
