I don't like to assume things about people. I try to understand or figure out things before I put my opinion on it.
For example, if I were to hear trashy things about a person, I wouldn't follow and dislike that person that's being talked about, if I've never actually interacted with them.
When there is a problem, such as a dispute between my friends, like when one is mad at the other. I would try to help them resolve it. I would like to hear from both sides of the story to understand better what I can help with or do.
I don’t like picking sides when it comes to arguments with my friends or family because I’m more of a person to help then to argue with someone.
I try my best to be in the other person's shoes to try to know how they are feeling because I care about them. For example, if I were to do something that got my friends mad or upset immediately after, I would try to put myself in their shoes to know how they’d feel if they were to do that to me. So then I’d apologize.
There was a time when I got furious with a friend because she was starting to hate herself for being in an off-and-on relationship. My anger got to me and I started yelling at her about how it's so dumb of her to be acting this way. Right there, I realized how harsh I was on her. I tried to put myself in her shoes to try and understand how she's been feeling and apologized.
I feel like having this kind of mentality helps me be a better person, role model, and friend. It helps me create great relationships with the people I care about.
