Growing up I dedicated most of my time either in school or on the internet. In school, I’d get to interact with friends in certain activities, but the opposite happened when I would go online. I often spent time playing games online by myself.
But ever since I got introduced to YouTube my life has changed. It helps me learn and communicate more with people who share the same interests with me online.
YouTube has opened an entirely new world for me. By using this platform I can share my opinions and experience content regarding video games, books, hobbies, or interests with friends. I can even watch and listen to other people perspectives. Some of my favorite videos include, “YouTube Rewind 2013” and “How To Make LEGO Gummy Candy!”
Watching YouTube makes me feel happy and helps me deal with stress. It helps get my mind off of school works and family issues.
Whether it’s listening to music or watching my favorite YouTuber, YouTube has always provide a space where I can hop on and enjoy my day.
There is no doubt that the comment section can be quite toxic sometimes, but I overlook that. I found out that among those negative comments are the loving, caring and supportive comments. Such as the comments in videos about Stan Lee’s death. There are people who enjoyed and appreciate the work and dedications that YouTubers had putted in their videos, too.
YouTube has helped me make new friends and it gives me a sense of belonging. Eduardo, who’s a student from YB, made a video on YouTube that I happened to stumble across. I recognized him, left some funny comments, and we became friend ever since. It feels like I’m part of a big community that anyone can participate. It’s a lot of fun and there isn’t a single day where I don’t watch YouTube.
