When I was five years old I leaned on my father to fight my battles and to basically carry life for me. That was one of the biggest mistakes I ever made.
Later on, my father was arrested and I couldn’t stand up on both my feet alone. When I tried to take a step I was told I was going the wrong way. Where was the right way?
I tried to find a replacement while my father was gone. My brother was kind of like a back up to me. The only problem was that my brother didn’t want to carry everything for me, he just wanted me to follow on his footsteps and I did but in a good way. He had straight A’s he was basically the perfect kid.
I’ve gotten used to following in my brothers footsteps that I didn’t care that my dad was home now. I’ve been following his footsteps by learning to stay motivated in school, getting straight A’s, and not getting involved with the wrong crowd, for over 10 years now. That was a big mistake because now he’s in the military and I’m back to stage one, not knowing where to go.
What I’ve learned from that is that I should make my own path and not worry about others, or else I’ll fall into a black hole.
Life isn’t easy, you may need to lean on some people at first but eventually you’ll learn how to make your own path and there will be bumps on your path.
