There's a lot of conflict happening around the world recently, but people don't really know about it because people don't talk about what's going on as often in the world today. It may be that people really don't pay much attention to it because it’s not involved within the US, or it is not as newsworthy as other latest topics. One of the many conflicts across the world is the Syrian War.
In Syria there's been a war ongoing for years, and it has recently gotten worse. There has been a lot of deaths; people fleeing to one place to another because they want to be safe. Since it is extremely dangerous, people are scared of what might happen to them. According to BBC News, women and children have been killed after a school in Eastern Syria was hit by an air raid. Meanwhile, many are in a poor state of health with children suffering, and many civilians are left with nothing, not even what they need the most: everything from clothes to shelter.
There has been a lot of violence, and innocent people are paying for the consequences.
According to BBC News, it all had started because many Syrians were complaining about high unemployment and corruption. According to the Arab Weekly, Syrians working in tourism hotels, travel agencies and banks were laid off arbitrarily, and people don't get rights unless they bribe officials. Bashar Al Assad, the president of Syria, has responded to the protest by killing hundreds and imprisoning many more. Under his command, government used deadly forces to do so.

According to sbs.com.au, Russia is in Syria to fight against ISIS, but they also attack other anti-Assad rebels, some of which are also backed by the west. Russia already had military bases in Syria launched an air campaign in support of Assad in 2015. Government has regained control of Syria's biggest cities, but large parts of the country are still held by rebel groups.
According to sbs.com.au, the fighters sometimes sign up to rebel groups because members of their families have already joined, or for financial reasons. The Syrian government considers all the rebel groups operating inside Eastern Ghouta as terrorists and the rebels only joined to fight against the president of Syria.
I interviewed Ana Gonzalez what she thinks about the whole situation, and she said “It's horrible with everything that's happening in Syria and a lot of people are dying. They were bombed and left with barely any food and medication. They have lost their homes children, jobs and have nowhere to go and the conflict is really bad because it all started by trying to stand up to the government, but ended up turning out to a war.”
I think more people should be aware of this issue because not a lot a lot of people actually know what's going on. Just because it doesn't happen in US, it doesn't mean it shouldn't be talked about. It’s really important for people and young people to know what's going on in other parts of the world than just the US. A lot of people may be suffering and we wouldn’t know what all those people are going through, which in some cases some people could help in any way.
