I admire the different types of genres there are. Their melody, lyrics, and rhythm. From a soft and steady song to an upbeat fast-paced one. I love music that has the ability of unfolding so many emotions and realizations.
I've come across a bunch of songs that have touched my heart and left a mark, at some point, it being my favorite song.
I can't remember the first time I ever heard or liked a song but even after all these years, "Te Quiero" by DJ Flex is still with me. It's a Spanish hip hop song, & the artist sings about his pure feelings towards his special someone.
But that's not why I love this song so much, it holds amazing memories because my mom would sing and blast it throughout the house when I was little.
My siblings and I learned to dance and sing with her whenever it was on. At that time, this song reminded me of how grateful I am for my family, for my mom who dedicated the song to her children. This song was THE anthem when I was 5 years old.
Music is an important part in the modern culture. There's all sorts of genres, all sorts of songs that address different issues and messages. It has the power to influence our thoughts and actions.
One of my favorite genres is pop music. I could be jamming to songs like 'teeth' by 5sos and enjoy the time because these songs are fun and make me want to dance.
When I'm in my feelings or sad, I listen to songs that make me feel worse. This is because the song is probably really depressing somehow. At the same time it calms me down and helps me better understand a situation with a better perspective. There's also been a few times where I've gotten an anxiety attack and was really freaking out. I had turned up the volume on my phone to let the music grow louder and that really did help.
A song that has helped me a lot is Eminem’s song Beautiful from his album “relapse.” I remember hearing it for the first time and related so much to the song, every lyric hit my soul. It helped me understand that things do get better, and that I just had to push through the hard stuff because it does get better. As dumb as it sounds or may be, this song made me feel less alone.
Music has been like a friend, a companion, that’s been there when I just needed a break from reality for a second. Have you ever gotten into a heated argument that made you cry of frustration? I've had my shares of experiences and sometimes what I would do was take a walk and hear music to calm myself down.
I listen to music when I'm bored and have nothing to do, or when I'm doing chores or homework. The point is that music has helped me morally and emotionally. Through the good and bad.
Life will continue to go on and there will be more tough times, something I know I'll be able to rely on is music.
