Every day, I come home and stress over the assignments that I need to complete and it kills me. That is, until I take out a sheet of paper or my drawing notebook and create something silly or spectacular. This brings me into my world of imagination and isolates me from the real world.
Creativity is what I live for. I’ve been drawing ever since my elementary years, and I don’t plan on stopping. I love drawing, I love art, I love every aspect it. Whether it’s from cartoons, anime, or even 3D.
When I first started out, I was watching animes such as Inuyasha and Dragon Ball Z. Trying to create that type of art was not an easy process because it was hard to replicate the same style from what I’d watch. Also, not being able to memorize the style or being completely off when trying to replicate the art, like a misplaced eye or deformed looking body.
So just like every beginner, my drawings were not the best. With each screw up, I’d motivate myself saying “I can do better, I can do better,” and that grew more. I may have also skipped on assignments and classwork just to draw, because I was THAT into it. (I still do).
Every drawing I create has a purpose; I don’t draw for no reason. Every drawing helps me understand what I’m capable of doing because I try and create using every type of genre that drawing has. Whichever seems suitable satisfies me, and so far, I’ve been focusing on creating anime styled drawings because I’m fond on how creative and different each type is.
I also like making drawings for people. I do requests or sometimes just give them a random one. I had a friend who was into Dragon Ball, so as a birthday present I created an image of their favorite character from the show of them doing a kamehameha (if you know what it is), and it was probably one of my few best because I took some time and effort into creating it and also because they were one of my favorite friends.
Most people may say that drawing is either a waste of time or just a hobby, but for someone like me, I see it as a future career.
