When people think of high school relationships, not much comes to thought.
High school relationships are known for not being genuine or long lasting.
I used to think this was true before I met my boyfriend, Christian Ibarra.
Christian and I have been together for almost 2 years now. He’s made a huge impact in my life and for that I will be forever grateful. I haven’t always had the easiest life, yet he has managed to make it easier to get through.
One thing I’ve struggled with is my physical appearance. I have trouble accepting my body. I don’t hate it and I wouldn’t trade it for anything but I just don’t love it.
Christian has slowly helped me with accepting myself. He never fails to remind me that I am beautiful the way I am.
Everytime I feel down he’s always there to pick me up. Even though he doesn’t fully understand why I feel this way about myself, he still tries to be there for me.
This has been a constant problem for me and it has come in the way of my happiness. Even though I tell myself that I shouldn’t be feeling this, it still gets to me at some point.
I do hope that one day I will reach a point where I can look in the mirror and not point out every flaw I see. I hope to be happy with myself and not let this get in the way of me living my life any longer.
I'm glad I have Christian by my side to support me with anything and to be my go to person when it comes to having someone to talk to. He’s helped me grow as a person and has introduced me to new possibilities.
Having someone by your side when you’re going through something is better than going through it alone. Trust and empathy is what develops a stronger connection with the person that guides you through your struggles.
