Life is often full of bumps and the life of Yerba Buena Junior Abigail Gomez is no exception. While living in California, Abigail shared a strong bond with her grandmother until she passed away back in February of 2016. Although a bit of conflict manifested in the form of inheritance clashes after her death, Abigail did not falter as she had those close to her, a love of Mexico, and her loyal cat Stormi to support her through tough times.
After the passing of Abigail’s grandmother, her body was transported to Mexico, a place that had a special place in Abigail’s heart since she was a kid. Not long after her passing would the arguments begin as family members quarreled over her belongings and other similar things.
These turbulent times would begin to be assuaged through the help of those close to her. Abigail would adopt a kitten from her grandmother’s cat, named Stormi.
Abigail states, “I got her from my grandma’s cat, about six months after my grandma died.”
Stormi greatly assisted in making Abigail feel better after the recent string of troubles.
Stormi the cat was not the only source of love and support that Abigail received during this time (and in the past). Even though some conflict came into play between the family members, at the end of the day Abigail finds solace and peace in them.
“I find hope in my family and friends to give me happiness,” says Abigail.
The family that she met in Mexico when she was six and the place itself ensures that she will always have a home to fall back on when things get rough.
Family is precious to Abigail, and when asked about what she would want to say to her grandma if she were to have five minutes to speak with her again, she said she would want to say “I love her and I miss her.”
Abigail finds strength in unity and in it lurks her prosper as she has an army of loved ones to fall back on as she goes through uncharted lands as the years go on. Unbreakable, unyielding, united love is Abigail’s source of strength.
