Moving houses can be fun and exciting but it can cause a lot of stress for adults and children. I know this because my sister and I, Samantha Orozco, both experienced this when we were young.
Moving houses was exciting for me because I didn't like the apartment we lived in since it was really small. People would always steal my moms car and there were a lot of gangsters. It was also exciting because it gave me a chance to meet new people and live in a bigger home.
One of the hardships of moving is being stressed. It was hard for me and my sister leaving all our friends behind. I asked my sister, “Was it stressful moving houses?” And she said, “Yes I had to leave one of closest friends Maria [behind].”
Moving can make getting used to a new area difficult. For example we moved to a worse area of San Jose; there was more trash on the streets, street racers, gangsters, and crimes.
Another stressful from moving is how expensive it can be. My mom had to get a loan from the government to buy the house. It was expensive to move there. We had to rent a U-Haul truck to bring all of our things there.
On the day we were moving, I remember my mom telling us to come home from school early because we needed to help put things into the U-Haul. After we were done putting our things in the truck, we left on our way to our new home. Some of the things fell out because it wasn't secured well so we had to go back and move it out of the road, which cost us more money to replace the items.
From moving we learned many things. We learned how to be more outgoing and we learned how to adapt to new things. For example my sister said “I used to be shy and since we moved it made me make friends faster."
As for myself some ways I've adapted to are getting out of my shell and becoming more confident. I learned how to start conversations and how to communicate better with people.
Even though moving houses was tough for us it was still exciting to live in a new house and experiencing a new location.
