What is fear? Fear is an emotion that makes you feel scared and anxious.
Fear is a lot of things, for example, arachnophobia (fear of spiders) or nyctophobia(fear of the dark), which for some, are hair-raising to hear about, but I specifically am not afraid of any of these. What I fear is acrophobia ( fear of heights ) because falling or slipping off of something with tremendous height, with no way of saving yourself is terrifying to imagine!
When I was eleven years old I always wanted to ride a roller coaster because it was a dream of mine, however, it all came tumbling down when I was finally able to experience a rollercoaster ride and I was prone to the sensation of fear. The sensation I felt was anxiety and my heart was racing when the roller coaster came down and the wind hit my face.
Another thing that I fear is the unknown or the fear of knowing something is behind you. For example, another person or something supernatural like ghosts, but you turn around and see nothing, that’s what I fear.I fear the unknown because there are videos of people going into supposed haunted houses and feeling scared when they go in and there are also documentaries of possessed dolls and items.
You know those movies where the main protagonist feels something is behind them and they turn around? And the thing they feel is gone then it appears in front of them when they turn around? That, to me, is very fear inducing.
The last thing I fear is dying and getting forgotten, I never feared dying and getting forgotten before, but when I saw the video from Domics called “Fears” it changed my perspective on the matter and now I fear it because getting forgotten is terrifying.
For example you wake up one morning and you see your body lying there and you try to communicate by moving something, but loved ones have forgotten about you, how would you feel? In my opinion I would feel sad because getting forgotten is horrible for your psyche.
In conclusion, fear is a powerful emotion and everybody has it whether it's a fear of the dark, fear of heights, fear of spiders, or the fear of clowns. Fear can make anything terrifying, for example, making a tiny bug look like a big monster, and for some people making heights look like it is the end of days and internalizing that it is only good to harm you.
