When people hear that one person can change their life in a major way they usually don’t believe it because it sounds very far-fetched, but 16-year-old Natalie Duran proved this wrong.
JJ, Natalie’s best friend at the time, helped her with self esteem and made her feel like she didn’t have to fit in so other people would like her.
Natalie met JJ when she was 15, he was very shy but he still made an effort to talk to her. Long story short she later found out that JJ was crushing on her.
“This made me feel shocked,” Natalie said, she had no idea he liked her “but deep inside I always knew he had a thing for me.”
Natalie and JJ soon started hanging out a lot. They would talk for hours, day and night, every chance she had she will try to hang out or meet up with him,
even if it was for just 20 minutes a day they will still talk with each other.
As time passed, she started catching feelings as well for her friend.
One late night Natalie and her sister were arguing about going to sleep, but she didn’t want to sleep because she was talking to JJ.
“I went to the car garage,” she said.
She talked to him for many hours that night, and as soon as Natalie was drifting off to sleep, she started humming the song from The Lion King movie, and JJ started humming hakuna matata with her and they soon began to sing like a duet.
This made Natatlie feel so connected and comfortable with JJ, because it’s been a while since she felt this close to someone.
Fast forward four weeks before the end of summer and JJ ghosted her for awhile, turns out he was having a lot of problems about a specific topic I can’t talk about due to the respect of the narrator's request.
JJ didn’t want Natalie to know his situation but he soon opened up and told her everything.
JJ told her he was going to move far away and wasn’t going to be there for Natalie anymore. She felt devastated because JJ was the only one who was real to her, even if what he says to her is kinda hurtful.
Long story short: JJ broke up with her because she was to clingy and many more reasons Natalie preferred not to specify.
Most people would find this offensive, but Natalie didn’t, instead she took this as advice and tried to work on herself just like JJ wanted her to do.
Although it was hard to say goodbye to JJ she knew it was for the best.
JJ said, “I’ll be back soon, I hope we can become something more in the future.”
To this day Natalie and JJ still keep in touch, but she will be waiting for that
day to come, that day that JJ will call back and say I’m back. But for now she continues with her life, enjoying every moment.
