The smell of the pho and engine oil, the crowd of people walking to get to their favorite store. Grand Century is decorated with Asian stores, restaurants with each store having a unique, sweet smell. Grand Century is always packed with hundreds of cars especially on the weekends, and mostly packed on holidays. Finding parking can be tough, like on Chinese New Years, it is always packed and filled with firecrackers, carnival rides and lions dancing.
Grand Century is located in East Side San Jose right by Story Road. Grand century has many workers helping people, such as helping consumers look for items that are needed, the workers are very friendly. According to Tony, a worker from Sweet Gelato, he loves to meet all kinds of people everyday. Grand Century has lots of merchandise gift stores, jewelry stores, fruits stores, asian snack stores, a few tax business stores, beauty salons, a game room and many more. The Mobile Plus store right across the food court has some really nice accessories such as nice cases for almost all types of phones, 3 in 1 chargers, cell phone mounter, and many more for all kinds of phones. But the thing is that you can’t return it you can only make exchanges so make sure to purchase the right item before buying anything from there.
Some of my favorite places to go to is Pho 90, Teahee, T4, Teazu, Soyful, the fresh sugarcane juice located at the food court, I only come here to go eat with my friends, walk around, buy milk tea and hangout or sometimes I just come here to eat Pho with my family. I don’t really like going here that much anymore. For the people who live kind of far away they can drive here, or take public transportation. In my opinion, I don’t like the nail place right by the back door of Grand Century located right next to the Dental Center. They just do horrible job, it didn’t turn out the way I wanted to and I was kind of mad cause it was a big waste of my money and also a waste of my time. It was my first time trying this place and i’m never going back.
Grand Century means a lot to me and to my family because we have been going here since we were little. My favorite memory was when my family and I would go here for the first time and we would walk around looking at all the different types of stores, such as the colors of the clothing, the people walking around, the loud music playing in the stores, foods, the colors on the menu, the way your mouth waters at the smell and sight of food. My family only likes to come here to buy food, drink, or visit restaurants. There are a lot of friends that I know that come here everyday to hangout, drink milk tea and eat with their friends.
Grand Century has a lot of selections of food places to order food. Grand Century has a nice statue located right in front of the shopping mall which makes it visually pleasing. Grand Century has a nice vibe, it is welcome to everyone and very clean. Grand Century has many decent places that you can buy stuff on your budget. At Grand Century and Vietnam Town there is a lot of asian men hanging around and drinking coffee. When going to Grand Century Shopping mall, most restaurants only accept cash so be prepared when buying something as most places accept CASH ONLY.
There is an ongoing issue at Grand Century which is the restrooms. The restrooms are in vile conditions. The restrooms here are usually clean and nice, yet, it gets really dirty due to people committing acts like throwing toilet paper on the ground or people not even flushing. The janitors or the community should do something about this ongoing issue.
Grand Century shapes most people lives everyday because it is the closest mall near many peoples homes, in fact many people can just walk to Grand Century on their own time.
Tony says, “many people come here everyday, there’s a lot of Asian people, different race, and mixed cultures here.” Grand Century is important to San Jose because of the cultures, and identity. There’s a lot that you can learn when going to Grand Century Shopping Mall.
