People usually spend their free time at the park, mall, movies, etc., but not me, I spend it in my second home, the gym. Going to the gym helps me stay healthy and keeps me out of the streets.
When I arrive to the gym I feel weak, tired, and exhausted. But once I hit the treadmill I feel that energy coming inside me, once I’m done running I go hit weights. Once I get home I feel tired and alive. When I get in the shower and then go lay down, my body feels very relaxed.
When lifting weights it releases my anger and helps me feel like I’m home safe where no one can tell me what to do or where no one is judging me.
The gym has taught me a lot of discipline such as: If I feel tired I will still lift the weight until my sets are over or to push myself more even though I don’t want to do it. When hitting the gym eating healthy, dieting and watching your calories becomes very important. When eating healthy I usually only eat grilled chicken, brown rice, fruits, and veggies.
Working out keeps me out of trouble. such as, being in gangs, selling drugs, and smoking. Before I started working out I would hang out with the wrong people and do dumb stuff like, ditch class all the time and get home at twelve at night. The people I used to hang out with still text me and tell me to go out but I just prefer to go to the gym.
Going to the gym is not just a one time thing, it is an everyday thing. The gym is my passion, what I love, and a place I consider my home.
