Living in my mom’s house consisted of my sister yelling at me for every little thing I did. I didn’t feel welcomed. I think it’s important to have both of your parents’ support in life, but it’s not always that way.
My mom worked all day. My sister would take care of me but she was always in a bad mood, since she was a teenager and had her own responsibilities than doing my mother’s job. My mom often left me at home with my nine year old brother, so she can go out with her boyfriend.
Nobody in that house gave me the attention a five year old girl needed; I felt alone. I always cried at night because I wanted to see my dad, but nobody cared. At one point my mom did agree that it was okay for me to go live with my dad, but I realize now her intentions as to why she allowed me to leave.

Eventually, I moved in with my dad in Sacramento. When I was six, we moved to San Jose. Ever since I started living with my dad, my mom stopped taking the role of a mother that she was supposed to be for me. Occasionally I would still go visit her, but disagreements occurred and communications were lost.
Sometimes I wish things were different, but not everything in life is the way someone wants it to be. There come times when I need some advice, and I don’t know who to go to. Because I was much younger to stay at home alone, my dad struggled to find someone to take care of me because he had to work.
I appreciate all the sacrifices my dad has made, such as always providing me with everything I need and the way he has raised me on his own. Even though my mom was never there for me when I needed her, she will always be my mother and I will always love her.
